Paris, je t'aime

This is my last post about Paris before heading down to the southwest coast for the second part of my holiday, in Biarritz. During the last week I've been getting out and about in the city - Paris is a fabulous city! It can be a hard city at times, too. One minute you'll be walking past manicured gardens and Yves Saint Laurent, then a few Metro stops later you'll be forcibly removing gypsy girls from your path as they try and get money from you (I don't know who was more suprised, me or the gypsy).
One thing is for sure - even though you might get sick of her, it's hard to stay angry with Paris for too long...

La Fete Des Loges

Every year a carnival sets itself up near my parents' suburb to celebrate the start of summer. It consists of rides, sideshows and eating places complete with cabaret shows.
This year, our family went along on its first Saturday night. I was instantly mesmerised! I was sure that I would be inexplicably carried away with the carnival, perhaps ending up with a job in the bonbon caravan (something that would have pleased my sister after being coerced onto a terrible ride called the Power Max).
Unfortunately, I was forced to catch the miniature train back to the car with my family and was unable to join as planned. C'est la vie.

First Glimpses

It's been a week since I arrived in Paris, and already I'm devising strategies on how I can stay here longer. Paris. Is. Awesome. Here are some picture taken from my first look around parts of the city in Montmartre, and the 8th- and 9th arrondissements and in St-Germain-En-Laye, where my parents live.
